SAVAGE DAWN is inspired by true stories from the late 1800s - stories that are grossly underrepresented, about women and what they’ll do to get what they want.
In the rugged expanse of the Wild West, Tom Havis' life is torn asunder by an elusive and ruthless killer. Consumed by a burning desire for revenge, his path converges with a young woman harbouring secrets that could untangle the web of mystery.
Representation matters and Savage Dawn will be helmed by a fiercely strong female lead team of all
backgrounds.
This story was written to bring women of all body types and backgrounds to the screen and show their power. Women of a curvy/plus-size body type and women from all around the world can be kick-ass leads in an action film.
Loosely based on true stories from the time, stories that aren’t seen in any movie made yet. We want to bring to light these historical figures and give a new representation of what happened back during the time of the California Gold rush to the turn of the century. A dark thrilling story.
A rarely seen side of the Wild West, this short concept-film is being made with the intent to be made into a future tv series. If given the opportunity to be made into a series, it will showcase women of all body types, ethnicity, and backgrounds.
Savage Dawn is written by young Australian writer, Jessica Rookeward; whose most recent short film ‘The Out-Fit’ has won over 25 awards and counting.
You can never have too many cowboys in town!
